All Ontario couples seeking a divorce will now have to attend a mandatory information session before ending their marriage in court, ushering a new provincewide program aimed at unclogging the family court system and encouraging mediation over litigation.

Beginning Monday, divorcing couples will have to attend a two-hour session run by volunteer lawyers and social workers whose goal is to educate parents about the effects of divorce on both their bank accounts and their children.
