Helena Christensen Took Family Showers When She Was A Child

Helena Christensen Used To Take 'Family Showers'

Helena Christensen had quite the unique childhood, owing mostly to her tight-knit family.

According to the Daily Mail, Christensen told the Sunday Times magazine, "It was total togetherness. We even took family showers. It felt like we did a lot of things together. Was my upbringing normal? Maybe not."

Definitely not, we'd say. But the legendary model has been able to recreate that hippie closeness for her own brood, namely her 11-year-old son Mingus.

Christensen told the Herald Sun last month that she never uses a nanny and that when she travels for work, her parents fly from their home in Copenhagen to watch Mingus.

"That's the way it's supposed to be," Christensen said to the Australian newspaper, "the generations sticking together and helping each other. My mum has taught Mingus so much -- such as cooking and Spanish -- and when I see him play chess with my dad, it's priceless."

And, the Mirror notes, her family has helped her get along as a single mother. The Danish bombshell once told the tabloid, "I never really felt like I was a single mum as I have a very close family nearby. Even his dad [actor Norman Reedus] lives within 10 minutes of my home in New York."
