FREEMANSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A bizarre set of circumstances sent an eastern Pennsylvania man to the hospital with a self-inflicted stab wound to the chest.

Freemansburg police say 50-year-old

was opening a bag of coffee with a knife on Thursday night when his wife asked him a question. As he turned to her, Forte said a cat ran under his feet and he fell with the knife in his hand.

The steak knife went about an inch into Forte's chest. He was treated at a hospital and police say he will be fine.

Freemansburg police Sgt. Martin Comer said he was skeptical at first but a preliminary investigation supports Forte's story. The man's wife and son corroborated the account.

Comer said he will investigate further but the stabbing does not appear suspicious.

Maybe the cat had it in for him......

Whenever my hubby would scream at the cat... the cat would go get one of his shirts out of the laundry basket and poop on it... then ball it up and leave it in the hall.

I tried to explain to the cat that I understood her desire for payback.... but I was the one doing the laundry! hahahahhaha

Though this story brings fear into the hearts of men, the real headline that had me quivering in my boots was"insane parakeet murders family of 4"..Gotta love those tabloids!

Would you also throw out one of your out children when they make a mistake. Cats have no idea of any consequences to their actions. The cat is just being a cat. I really hope that you were just kidding. I see too many homeless cats all around my neighborhood. Soo sad.

My 2 cats are always running around me. I always have to watch where I'm walking. They're always under foot. They dart out from nowhere. So I do know what you go through.

It can't be bargined with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity or pain or remorse, and it absolutely will not stop, ever!!, until you are dead. Kyle Reese from 'Terminator'

Cats are fearless. My cat is a great example of how dangerous they can be. I'm about 6 foot 3 and my cat has no fear of walking right under me any time I go to make a fast move to go somwhere it will time it just perfect so that I have to leap out of its way so that I don't step on it. In my history of having this cat I have stepped on it at least 5 times in ways that I always believe at the time will cause serious injury. So it has me sitting there feeling bad. I really think it's just a big scheme to get more food.
