Los Angeles’ electronic music scene is a multi-dimensional beat machine pumping out explosive sub-bass vibrations and good vibes. These artists--all world-class producers of dub-step, downtempo, moombahton, bass, glitch-hop and other sub-genres that you feel foolish for not knowing at parties--call LA home.

This LA native got the nod from electronic bon vivant Diplo, (via a Twitter shout-out, natch) and is now the freshest member of the Mad Decent crew. Francis, 23, started making music at age 18, but didn't want to get booked at then-hot clubs like Cinespace by "social climbing." Instead, he moved to Atlanta to learn the trade, promising his parents he'd go to college if music didn't work out. He has not yet been back to school.

Sound: The music that I'm making is extremely influenced by reggaeton and house. One day I hope to say that the sound is just "Dillon Francis," Now, I guess it's a cross between dub step and house music, slowed down to 110BPM.

Influences: For producers, Diplo. I think he's the epicenter of LA right now. He lives here, he's doing it, and it's awesome.

Favorite Club: Avalon is the best club in LA, I think. I've been there so many times and haven't had a bad night.

LA Must: I love this taco place called Plancha [Yelp]. When I'm home, I eat there every day.
