Jon Stewart: Fox News, 'NY Post' 'Jealous' They Can't Cover Murdoch Scandal (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart caught up to Stephen Colbert's coverage of the Rupert Murdoch scandal Tuesday night, running over 'The News Of The World''s myriad offenses but focusing specifically on how Murdoch's other media properties are handling the story.

As he does best, Stewart produced a slew of clips to show Fox News' dismissal of the Murdoch scandal. Like Colbert, the soundbite that stuck out the most came from Bob Dilenschneider who suggested that the media stop 'piling on' the story. Another anchor made an awkward comparison, saying it was the biggest 'pile on' he'd seen since at a Rugby match.

"I thought you were going to say, 'The biggest case of piling on since Common read a poem at the White House,'" Stewart said, referencing the network's outrage expressed at the rapper's appearance there earlier this year.

As a point of comparison to their lack of Murdoch coverage, Stewart also produced a slew of clips showing how Fox handled the firing of NPR's Juan Williams after he made controversial racial remarks. Aside from covering it heavily and accusing liberal networks of playing the story down, one Fox News pundit actually tried to link NPR to a jihadist inquisition. Stewart couldn't believe the audacity:

"Is NPR 'an agent of a Jihadist inquisition'? I'm going to say yes, because why else would you bring it up?" Stewart joked.

If the Williams coverage is what Fox considers a "reasonably portioned response," how could they convince other networks that covering this international bribery and hacking scandal currently consuming the British establishment is a waste time? Stewart doesn't think that's what they're after though. He knows that Fox News and other Murdoch properties like The New York Post are "just jealous" because they cover scandals like no one else and now they have to sit on their hands.

Watch the segment below to see how Stewart imagines The Post would cover the scandal (including how they'd handle the death of a whistleblower) and show just how ballsy Fox News has been in the past when standing up to the all powerful Murdoch.

It’s funny the silence from the conservatives on this matter you could hear a pin drop
So much for fare and balanced news
But in the silence we as libs hear a lot like the next time a story pushed by these guys
To the point (if not to bright) start to believe it is true and all it does is reveal the
True side of the conservatives as selfish and they have no ethics to guide them
But in the end Murdoch will have to get out of the news entertainment business
To save his core company’s .You have to look at all of his Corp holdings
That means FOX News entertainment will be gone soon (YEA)

The NPR scandal? That one where the tape turned out to be heavily edited?

They are corporate fascists. The wealthy and powerful should not be questioned, only obeyed, while you try to make your way up the hierarchy yourself.

Love our Jon Stewart! Moving right along to the heart of the matter and where the discussion should really be...
My state has to draw up a 'contingency plan' if the Debt Ceiling crisis isn't resolved? Here's my proposal: You're all fired--really, discharged for your inability to do your job and accomplishing an assignment; a task, in a timely manner. This will be deemed 'deliberate misconduct' because of the fighting between parties and self-serving dolts posing as public servants.

Zero unemployment benefits for any of you! Just consider all of the $$$ we'll save! Think I'll retreat back into my cave. Wake me when it's over....

Let Americans check off on employment W2 forms if we want our tax money to go to Free Healthcare (these are the people who should get free healthcare if you’re contributing), The Illegal Wars (military spending), American Philanthropy ( ex. Pakistan insert any country we gave aid) or SS/Medicaid. Let the American people decide where they want their tax money to go, then you can boldly state, like Eric Cantor and John Bohner what the American people really want.

Ok now all you Fox Lovers can get mad and then get glad! Have a good one guys!!

2 posts today! Ok let’s face the elephant in the room, the reason why Fox news is so popular - the major difference between liberal/conservatives is, Liberals actually read the news to form their own judgment, unlike Conservatives who HAVE to watch Fox news to form their own opinion. Especially the poor conservatives (you’ve seen them at the tea party rallies), as well as the ones who make under 100K , they will side with the right, even after the President clearly states the tax hike wont effect people who make under 200K. A Fox pundit will make a general rebuttal statement connecting the tax hike to ALL Americans! WTH, were you listening to YOUR President? Oh I get it, even though the President keeps saying the tax hike wont effect people under 200K, you’re going to say what you want bc your viewers listen and need your guidance! Super. Conservatives need constant direction; approval and validation for their blatant close-minded, before 1965 views of America, they so desperately cling to and want back. I know, I know, I want my country back and this administration is going to ruin America, blah, get over it! (Fear is why were still overseas fighting.) It’s a new America and with a new America comes change….you really want to make a change, lets reform the taxes/IRS and the W2/W9 system. All Americans should be able to allocate where they want their tax dollars to go.

Bingo....the really funny part is how the Fauxies call those of who actually watch real news (as opposed to "Nooze" on Faux) :"elitists." The stuff that is coming out about Murdoch (like the stuff that came out about Rove) about how they and their minions will say or do anything, no matter how untruthful or destructive ( in order to make money or retain power or both) , and that they are empowered to do so by the sheer stupidity of their audiences.

These dolts that have been conned into voting against their own best interests (which would be OK, but they are also voting against the best interests of most of the rest of us) and for those of the ruthless and crooked corporations are still not hanging their pointy heads in shame. But why should the rest of us have to continue to tiptoe around the big truth: these people are not only dumb , they are gullible. If not, they are part of the self-interests of the selfish rich, the ones who have already brought this country to its knees.

Here goes: it isn't RUDE to call these people suckers and dimwits. it is a simple factual statement, ..and they do have their right to freedom of speech, but we have that right too, the right to call things as we see them.

Remeber Joe the Plumber. The guy was a classic, he had nothing but benefits under Obama's tax plan. The idea that he was going to buy the business and maybe make over the $250K was so ridiculous. He turned out to not even be a licensed plumber, and he clearly didn't have a clue how valuable a business that kicks out that kind of net revenue every year would be.

So here he is, completely ignorant and arguing with Obama, then he becomes a rallying cry. It was all so absurd it made me laugh every time I heard his name. Here's a typical dumb guy being conservative because it seems tough and manly. He's got a fantasy where he's going to magically get the cash to purchase a multi-million dollar business he's the employee of, and against that unlikely eventuality he'll hold out against any taxes on the rich.

Hilarious! The hypocrisy at Fox News is overwhelming! Same as it ever was! They hand it to Stewart on a silver platter everyday. And then they wonder why Stewart keeps "going there." IDIOTS!

The curtain has been pulled.

The great and powerful Ozzie has been exposed and we now see him for who he really is. A great big FAKE. Everyone should now see that his organization is smoke and mirrors and that it is NOT NEWS.

the only thing they are covering is their backsides with carefully worded statements from their defense attorneys and p.r. flacks and attacking other media for covering their criminal activities as "piling on".

Casey Anthony was important to Faux News. Potential illegal activity by a huge corporation, that happens to own Faux News, is unimportant to them. What a surprise.
