2011 MTV VMA Nominees Announced: Katy Perry Leads The Pack With Nine Video Music Award Nods

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards may also be known as its more colloquial name: ladies' night.

Nominees for this year's VMAs were announced Wednesday night by Katy Perry, who leads the pack with an impressive nine VMA nominations, including “Video of the Year” and “Best Female Video,” for her explosive hit, “Firework." She also got nods for “Best Pop Video” for Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), and “Best Special Effects” for “E.T.” featuring Kanye West.

Following Perry is Adele, whose "21" is the year's biggest selling album to date. Adele earned seven nominations for "Rolling In The Deep," putting her on par with Kanye West, who picked up nods for "Power and "All of The Lights" as well as his collaboration with Perry. Overall, collaborations had a strong showing, with 14 duo tracks garnering nominations outside of the specific collaboration category.

She talks and shouts her way through most of the song, jumps up and down walks around(I think some would call it dancing) but not sure.

There is one hilarious moment where she runs forward to the judges and "sings" in their faces - it must have taken everything they had not to scream in pain - maybe they were wearing ear plugs. Paula looks totally glazed in that moment, shes like weaving back and forth with a dreamy smile on her face, Katy's voice sent her into another land entirely. Maybe she'll do the same move in the VMAS - run to where the other nominees are sitting and sing in their faces. How rude.

Well at least the VMAs are providing a live performance for the Katy Perry list on youtube that could also double as a finalist in the "America's funniest home videos" category.

You know after all of these live performances of Katys - I'm beginning to see what her fans see in her.



Such a delightful "sound" she emits. Like at a very "unique" frequency. And the dancing like squiggling, wiggling and jumping up and down all at once - like a human worm. Shes clearly a triple threat. Sings, dances, good lines of songs come to her in dreams. Am soooo looking forward to the live performances of hers on youtube at the VMAS - sure to delight in more ways than one.

I take back everything I said about her not being talented -as any live performance of hers will confirm she really is quite the talent.

She starts by jumping up and down in a cupcake dress. She then walks across the stage, shakes, jumps some more, and shakes.

Really I think if Adele, Beyonce, Gaga and Bieber  rather just not attend - shes going to be at the VMAs - live - winning awards for cupcakes, candy, melting popsicles, jumping and down and "singing".

Imagine having the camera pan to one after one has just witnessed a live performance of hers.

There are many such "wonderful" live performances of Katy's on youtube.

Since you didn't click - why I don't know? according to guys shes a "singer" remember - let me give you highlights of the vid

1) 0.26 she sings boys - very pitchy and off key - thats the first highlight

2) At 2:01 she starts gyrating and simulating you know what - while singing - we'll melt your popsicle - they pan to the audience most of whom seem to be teens and pre-teens

3) At 2:21 she starts singing - I don't know not singing exactly but the woohohohohho part - truly unimaginable ear pain

4) The dancing through the vid also leaves much to be decided and is never in time with the music

Says a lot when fans of this "singer" are too scared to click on a live performance link. And this isn't just a one off performance - there are MANY, MANY like it

An MTV VMA award has about as much respect as a Nickelodeon award. If you're willing to perform and show up, you'll either be nominated and/or awarded. In the real world, winning an MTV VMA award has about as much clout as a Lowe's credit card.
