Nancy Ho Dead: Cyclist Killed After Collision With Truck In SOMA
Nancy Ho, the 25-year-old cyclist who was hit by a truck Wednesday morning on the corner of Mission and Fremont streets, has died, according to authorities.
Ho, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at San Francisco General Hospital, the Chronicle reported, after sustaining a head injury that left her in critical condition. Erroneous reports immediately following the crash claimed Ho died instantly.
Surveillance footage of the accident showed that the westbound Berkeley Farms truck struck Ho as she was turning onto Fremont Street. "Both the truck driver and the bicyclist had a green light, but the bicyclist was making an illegal left turn," SFPD reported.
According to authorities, Ho was not wearing a helmet.
Streetsblog reported that Ho's death marks the first cycling fatality on San Francisco streets this year. San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield, who was on the scene of the collision, issued a reminder following the incident.
"Everyone has to share the roadway and be cautious," he said.
