DNC Runs New Spanish-Language Ad To Counter Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS

First Posted: 07/22/11 09:53 AM ET Updated: 09/21/11 06:12 AM ET

WASHINGTON -- The Democratic National Committee is out with a new Spanish-language ad meant to reinforce the party's appeal to Latinos and counter a similar ad running from a conservative group.

The first ad buy by the DNC in the 2012 season, the spot accuses Republicans of wanting to "end the Medicare guarantee while protecting tax cuts for the very rich," while stressing that President Obama "extended health insurance to our children," financial aid for students and middle-class tax cuts.

The DNC spot will be running in Reno, Las Vegas, Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Albuquerque and Washington, D.C.

The ad hits back at Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, which also went on the air with a Spanish-language ad on Monday. That spot ran in Denver, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, El Paso, Las Vegas, Reno, D.C., Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

"The special interest-funded Crossroads is trying to hide the fact that the Republican Party would end Medicare as we know it to pay for tax cuts for the very rich," said DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) in a statement.

"They are trying to hide the fact that Republicans are supporting a budget plan that would roll back our economic progress and place additional burdens on seniors and the middle class. But the Administration’s record is clear. President Obama has been focused from day one on strengthening economic security for working and middle class families. That’s why he extended health insurance to millions of children, expanded financial aid for our youth and cut taxes for the middle class."

The GOP will need a lot of luck with that. The Hispanic community is not nearly as gullible as the GOP seem to be hoping they are. With some of the racist things that have came out of GOP politicians mouths with regards to immigrants (they seem incapable of differentiating between legal and illegal too), their archaic notions of immigration policy and their history of supporting some rather racist  Read More...

Or maybe he's just pandering to the U.S. citizens from Puerto Rico, who's official language and first language is Spanish. I just wish the federal government would also communicate in the native languages of every people whom it has dominion over, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, American Samoans, etc.

And honestly, why would you even care if there's an English translation... This is America and you should be concerned with assuring every citizen is as engaged as possible in the democratic processes...

Somebody needs to take the Rove video ad and redo the dialog so that it slams the Republican Party and then post it on youtube. Just do a new voice over of the video. It will probably be taken down, but it could go viral.

This whole "immigration" issue would go away if Hispanics and others wanting to come to this country would just do what is required to become an American citizen and just use the LEGAL immigration process. There are few Americans against the legitimate process, however the massive numbers of illegal Hispanics coming into this country is out of control and costing American taxpayers billions of dollars a year and stressing the infrastructures of all of the states in the Southwest, and the liberals love it because it is building their voting base, not because they particularly love Hispanics. Those Hispanics that have come here the legitimate way and worked hard to learn English and become an integrated full fledged American citizen are moving more and more toward the conservative mindset/values and the Republican
party in this country.

Republicans to Latino-Americans: "How many ways have we expressed our love you and your priorities?"

Republican s in congress.. . the House of Representatives and Senate, have blocked literally every single bill [Including the DREAM ACT] Democrats have brought to the floor meant to remedy the most urgent concerns of the Latino-American community.

It's going to interesting to how Karl Rove spins all these Draconian immigration "Papers Please" laws signed into law by Republican-controlled governorships and state houses.

Once again rather than focusing on the economy, Republican s are resorting to every scheme within their bag of the "divide and conquer" political-tricks meant to re-take the reigns of power in Washington ... as if the Latino community have forgotten the Republican Party's historic opposition to American immigration policies.

Karl Rove has his work cut out for him, for the road ahead convincing Latino-Americans that the Draconian immigration "anchor baby" bills passed by 34 Republican-controlled state legislatures and signed into law by Republican governors?

In addition, perhaps Mr. Rove and the GOP will be able to justify/explain how adopting nationwide all these stringent voter suppression and gerrymandering laws meant specifically to squelch the 2012 Latino-American, African-American, seniors, and College Student constituencies who traditionally turnout for Democrats... well, is somehow in the best interest of Latino-Americans?

"Minorities are too allowed to form their own opinions. They are allowed to have conservative views. However, the current GOP does not care about minorities and would prefer them to be invisible, subservient or go back to their ancestral countries. Therefore, conservative minorities with their own opinions must vote democrat. "

It ain't happening for the repulsives. They feel they don't need the minorities--especially blacks, latinos, and the openly gay people, and they don't respect these minorities. Remember these are the folks--repulsives--who are against immigration. The only reason they are attempting to reach out to the latinos is because it is a growing population. The repulsives are out of touch with all minorities because they are the real Americans. And you can't trust them. Ask Micheal Steele he can tell you. This guy was just recently head of the RNC, and now he is a contributing analyst for MSNBC. Why isn't he over there at FAUX News? It is because he has worn out his usefulness.
Look out tee tee partier Allan West you are next. You are going down.

They are letting West and Cain spout inanities against Wasserman-Schultz and muslims as employees. So far these two pitiful unaware puppets are doing a better job than Steele, who had dia r hea of the mouth and would contradict himself from time to time.
