China-Based Spies Said To Be Behind Hacking Of International Monetary Fund

Investigators probing the recent ransacking of International Monetary Fund computers have concluded the attack was carried out by cyber spies connected to China, according to two people close to the investigation.

In a recent paper I made reference as to my lack of belief in a so called "Red" conspiracy. I stand by those comments even after reading this article. The desire to attach a known State or rather an easy to identify enemy to cyber attacks is too easy. The Internet is global as are its enemies. Bots are everywhere and can be controlled from anywhere. But hey if giving a hacker a name makes you sleep better at night, just don't be surprised when that name turns out to be Anonymous and truly is anonymous.

The notions that China is authoritarian and centralist are correct. However it is not monolithic. The Chinese leadership does not know everything that goes on because so much is going on. Do not deny complexity arising from governing 1.4 billion people.
