17 All-Time Worst Bathroom FAILS (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 07/23/11 02:15 PM ET   Updated: 09/22/11 06:12 AM ET

We've all been there: sitting in a porta-potty where the door has a faulty latch, or waiting in line at a movie theater restroom that inexplicably has 12 sinks and two toilet stalls. Hey, they can't all be awesome engineers.

But these photos we've found go above and beyond the simple "oops" you'd experience with your average bathroom flub. Oh no, ladies and gentlemen. These fails are far worse -- and far more difficult to forgive.

So go ahead, try to imagine how you'd handle using these architectural wonders, and then be sure to vote for your favorites.

These never really get old. Every time I open the link I think that perhaps this time it will all be old and tired. But they never are.

I remember the at my moms last job they had a "staircase bathroom". I called it "The High Throne" Never did get a reasonable explination for its form.

Maybe this was taken by someone working there before the stalls were put up? However, I did go into a ladies restroom at a restaurant at the beach once, and the room was shaped sortof triangular, with the door being one point and a toilet at each of the other two points and sink in the middle, but no partition of any kind between the two toilets. It was weird.

Hey, I've seen gas station rest room toilets that would make that highway cone contraption seem like something from heaven.

I love the "space saver" sidesaddle toilet.

These bathrooms are really terrible-worse than I thought they could be. I thought buildings had to be inspected and approved through permits. I know that won't exactly apply to whoever put the urinals on the trees but still...

Anyone who took basic training at Ft. Dix in the 60s will remember the open barracks latrines with about 20 toilets lining 3 sides of the interior with no stalls. You sat and watched and listened to your comrades farting and dumping. As a naive lad of 17, it took me 3 days before I could bring myself to *not* wait until 2-3AM to sit on the john.

Slide number one, it looks like the doors were installed upside down and left that way.

If the doors in slide number one were intentional. It kind makes sense under the assumption that anyone not occupying a stall would be standing and over four feet tall. Sight lines would allow minimum privacy. Still a total fail on co-occupant privacy.

Oh I almost forgot, power operated tissue dispensors, press the button for 2 sheets, press again wait 30 seconds for 2 more sheets. Now I-95 in Palm Beach County Fl, "Hands Free Facilities? And toilets have directions written in BRAILE! Who thought of that? OSHA?

Blind people have to go too, you know. And, I'm thankful for the hands-free towel dispensers and toilets. You never know who's touched something before you. Ick.
