Arnold Schwarzenegger has just refiled his response to Maria Shriver's divorce petition, and this time he's not trying to deny her spousal support or attorney's fees.

As we first reported, sources connected with Arnold told us ... although he signed his legal response, he never read it and therefore didn't know his lawyer moved to block Maria's bid to get spousal support and her attorney's fees paid by him

A woman who gave up a lucrative career to assist her husband in his is certainly entitled to be compensated. Especially when it seems he did not show any gratitude for her sacrifice. I don't care how much money she has. She would have more if she didn't spend her time working for free on his campaigns and as first lady.

He and his lawyers must have discussed what to offer Maria and after the backlash he got from the offer he decides to refile. End of story. Considering it was Maria who got him elected governor of California and putting up with his obnoxious behavior, she deserves evry penny. I always wondered what she saw in him, but love is strange.

I can believe that he didn't read the paperwork and left it up to his lawyers and signed where told. I think for many people this is pretty standard, particularly for wealthy people who let their lawyers deal with things on a regular bases.

And it sounds like a typical first tactic of a divorce lawyer to start off with "No" to everything to allow room for negotiations.

Glad to see that Maria won't end up homeless and begging for money on the streets to support her kids ;)

Public backlash, anyone? I think that, although Maria Shriver comes from a family with wealth in their own right, Schwarzenegger's original filing hit all the wrong notes when it his the press. Cheating on his wife and bearing a child with his mistress? To deny Maria Shriver spousal support and/or legal fees would have been like another slap in the face to her. I am glad that his legal team decided to wake up and to the right thing.

You said it, brother. His original filing was a PR disaster, denying her support when she publicly and morally supported HIM in his bid for governator. Now we know he had her duped. She deserves even MORE for that!
