Elisabeth Hasselbeck Condemns Gay Marriage Protesters In New York (VIDEO)

Elisabeth Hasselbeck condemned people protesting outside same-sex marriages in New York on "The View" on Monday.

"The View" co-host called the protests "uncalled for," adding, "to protest someone's day I find to be without taste." It was the second day gay marriage has been legal in New York State. Hasselbeck added, "The only thing that's killing [heterosexual marriage] is heterosexual marriage."

Co-host Joy Behar agreed, and Whoopi Goldberg echoed that sentiment, saying, "If you're not into gay marriage, don't marry a gay person."

The cohort also discussed whether Biblical restrictions should be taken literally, with Behar noting that the Bible prohibits eating lobster. Goldberg called the laws "too restrictive," questioning a rule that dictates, "Man shall not lie with an animal, or he shall be put to death and so shall the animal." Baa-ing like a sheep, Goldberg jokingly asked, "Now what did the animal do?"

It reminds me of Bristol and Sarah Palin fighting recently because Bristol supposedly sees nothing wrong with gay marriage. It wasn't until she left her well insulated life in Alaska and started to think on her own that this came about. Hate and bigotry are taught by parents and relatives. She now has had the opportunity and priveledge of working with different people and has met, I am sure, gay men and women that don't match what mom and dad warned her about. Seems to me Elisabeth could arrive at the same conclusion even if it is a little late. She has the potential to be a better human being as we all do.

Hasselbeck is just tired of being ganged up on over everything she says, so she's pretending to be down for gay marriage. In reality, she knows she doesn't agree with it. Instead of just accepting that she's the enemy to the mostly liberal audience and mostly liberal co-hosts, she's trying to pander.

Yes. That is why the support for full Civil Rights for GLBTQ Americans increases every year - pandering.

Now that we have extended equality for our gay brothers and sisters, I propose we extend it to our smallest, youngest, and most vulnerable brothers and sisters as well.

It's no one's business who you choose to love...You can only hope she is changing her mind for the right reason..and not for her own agenda in the media.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck would not have taken this position three years ago. I think she has wised up because of criticism of a few of her extreme views. Her ideology seems to be changing for a more positive approval by the public. This is my opinion. I like to hear her say this about gay marriage. It was a common-sense statement.

I would think she has a sinister reason behind it. She is a die hard Republican and they will never be for or about equal rights. Might just be for ratings, show she can be humane, in her case human. I for one dont buy that one.

I haven't listened to Elizabeth Hasselbeck enough to suspect she has evil motives. If you listlen to her comment in this clip again you'll notice she doesn't actually talk about gay marriage. It's about heteros making a mess of their own marriages. So I don't see this in any way as a departure from her conservative values. I think it was a nice way for her to take a centrist position on something. Like you said, she may be wanting to show a more humane side. She's probably growing tired of her mailbox being filled with hate mail.

Wow, I never thought I would hear Hasselback promoting gay marriage ever! Good for her, maybe she's turned the corner a little bit. That was very impressive!

I don't think she is promoting Gay Marriage so much as she is speaking out against rude people and not letting someone have their special day ruined. In any case it is progress and a very kind thing for her to do.
Thank you, Elizabeth.

I am a white southerner who is relatively conservative. That being said I don't care about gay marriage. I have no idea why anyone cares about gay marriage. If two gay people get married it does not affect me one way or the other. So to all of you in New York who can now enjoy the benefits of marriage, congratulations.

It's all well and good that Missy Hasselstein had some nice words for us. However, considering all of the vile homophobic things she has supported in the past, isn't this performance something like the drunken guest at your house who breaks the furniture, throws up on your carpet, runs over the cat on the way out the driveway... and then calls the next morning and gushes about what a swell party it was?
