'Main Street' Trailer: Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom Go Southern (VIDEO)

Orlando Bloom, Colin Firth Try Their Best Southern Accents

Give the director credit for thinking outside the box, at least.

Searching for leads in the upcoming small town Southern film, "Main Street," director John Doyle and crew needed two male leads. So, they went to two of the top British stars of the day. Naturally. Oscar-winner Colin Firth and Orlando Bloom star in the upcoming feel good indie, with Bloom playing a mustachioed cop and Firth a well meaning businessman.

Also, it's not the only upcoming movie that features Bloom with fantastic lip fur.

Co-staring are Patricia Clarkson, Ellen Burstyn and Amber Tamblyn, quite the cast for a small indie that hits Video on Demand on August 5th, more than a month than its September 9th street date.

Here's the official synopsis:

Several residents of a small Southern city whose lives are changed by the arrival of a stranger with a controversial plan to save their decaying hometown. In the midst of today's challenging times, each of the colorful citizens of this close-knit North Carolina community, will search for ways to reinvent themselves, their relationships and the very heart of their neighborhood.
