Wisconsin Recall Elections: Shelly Moore And Sheila Harsdorf Debate, Hosted By Patch.com (LIVE VIDEO)

Two candidates facing off in the Wisconsin recall elections are taking part in a Patch.com-sponsored debate Monday night.

Shelly Moore (D) is vying to unseat Sheila Harsdorf (R) as the state Senator representing Wisconsin's 10th District. This is the first of three scheduled debates between the candidates leading up to the recall election on August 9.

Nine state senators -- including six Republicans and three Democrats -- have been fighting to save their state Senate seats. Democrat Dave Hansen of Wisconsin's 30th state Senate District won back his seat in a July 19 election, and the rest of the races will be decided on August 9 and August 16.

The recall elections come in the wake of Gov. Scott Walker (R) signing an anti-union bill that restricted government workers' collective bargaining rights. If Democrats pick up a total of three seats, they will regain control of the chamber and have significantly more influence over Gov. Walker's legislative decision-making.

The debate between Moore and Harsdorf will be livestreamed by Hudson Patch.
