Broadway celebrated New York's landmark legalization of gay marriage by performing some of the first same sex marriages in the state on stage.

Last night, on July 25, three same-sex couples got married on stage at the St. James Theater where the musical Hair is performed.

The lucky couples were actress Terri White and her representative Donna Barnet, actor Ryan Dietz and playwright Josh Levine, and stage doorman John Raymond Barker and usher Jared Pike. Actor Colman Domingo was ordained for the event.

Domingo said of the occasion, "These theaters are our churches, and here we are in our churches having these weddings. It’s incredible.”

Mayor Bloomberg performed the state's first same-sex marriage between two of his staff members, John Feinblatt and Jonathan Mintz on the front steps of Gracie Mansion.

One of the newlyweds, Terri White said that even though she and her partner had a commitment ceremony in 2009, "now it feels like we’re married. For the first time, I feel like a US citizen.”

Jujamcyn Theater President Jordan Roth released a statement saying:

"The theater is the place where we come together to celebrate and affirm who we are. It is the place where we stand in front of our community to speak our truth. That is theater. And that is also a wedding. It feels so very right then at this moment of historic magnitude for all of us to host some of the first same-sex weddings in New York State at our theatre. Our home."
