Kate Gosselin's Kids: 'We Need A Daddy!'

Plus 8: 'We Need A Daddy'

Mentioning that you're a mom of eight isn't exactly pillow talk when it comes to finding a partner in parenthood. But no teen angst movies here, when Kate Gosselin does find the right guy, her brood will be thrilled -- at times, they've even demanded a new daddy.

“Obviously the kids miss their dad living here but they are at the point now they are smashing their fists on the table saying ‘we want you to get married. We need a daddy that lives here,'” Gosselin tells me. “But, I say 'you have your daddy.'”

But this isn't the first time Gosselin has acted as a megaphone for her kids' daddy-hungry woes. She told Extra that her brood is "bored" with their single-parent life and want a new daddy in the mix. But when Gosselin asks her children who they would like her to marry none of them have a clue -- and neither does Kate.

“I don’t know who I would like to marry because I haven’t dated anyone,” Kate confessed to me. “They comment all the time and I say who do you think I should marry. No one has an answer.”

Being a single parent is not easy; however, it’s something Kate is used to, telling me she felt that way even when ex-husband Jon Gosselin was around.

“I felt like I have really always taken charge of everything around the house,” Kate tells me. “Schedule and organization and work. It’s a lot to handle for one person.”

But Jon would more than disagree with Kate's claims of her single-parent style when the couple was still living under one roof.

Last year, Jon tweeted that he was nothing but a good dad to his adorable brood, hoping to make it clear that he never viewed his little ones in terms of potential income. Gosselin even went to court in attempt to remove them from ex-wife Kate's, now solo, reality show.

Each of them has experienced negative effects of having their lives so public. Some are struggling with emotional and/or behavioral issues. My goal for my children is for them to have a normal childhood, and gain back their much-deserved privacy. This is not about money, this is about my children. No amount of money is worth the price my children are paying. You cannot put a price on childhood. Money comes and goes, but you only have one childhood.

But Kate doesn't stand by Jon's daddy dearest claims, telling me she is constantly calling people asking for help to no avail -- and with little help from Jon.

“I do feel overwhelmed a lot because this is a lot to manage. Our crazy schedule, eight kids getting what they need,” Kate tells me. “But I would rather not sleep than have my kids go without what they deserve. I have always had a high mark that I have for myself. I have always said they need to be treated like they are individuals, like they are an only child even though there's eight of them.”

But it looks like her adorable eight are going to have to wait before they have a daddy that lives with them. “When I’m by myself the greatest ideas come. I’m very self-occupiable [sic].”

Next time Kate finds herself alone, let's hope she occupies herself with a dictionary!
