The Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival kicks off this weekend in Logan Square, and will be unlike other neighborhood festivals you have attended so far this summer.

A collection of local art exhibitions, interactive activities, performance art and a multi-stage music line-up will bring talented folks from all over the city to the Milwaukee Avenue, and we decided to round up some highlights.

The Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival runs from July 29 to 31. Friday: 4-11 p.m., Saturday & Sunday: Noon- 11 p.m. along North Milwaukee Avenue between California and Kimball. For the full lineup, click here.

There's certainly no shortage of venues or local music acts in Chicago. The vibrant and diverse scene in our city has given so many big names their start. Independent: Chicago Band Photography takes the experience and excitement from a live music show and delivers it to the gallery space. This gallery will exhibit film and digital photography of local bands and solo acts, from the newer to the already established, focusing mostly on the punk and indie genres. You'll see live photos, band promos, the crowd and candid shots -- surely whetting your appetite for upcoming Lollapalooza.
