Spanx Introduces Active Line For The Gym (PHOTO, POLL)

Just like doing your hair before you go to the salon or cleaning for the cleaning lady, Spanx has introduced the Spanx Active collection. Yes, that's shapewear you sport to the gym.

Brought to our attention by Jezebel, the new line, priced from $68 to $118, includes shorts, pants and tanks that all look positively elliptical-ready.

As far as stretchy gym clothes go, these pieces look alright. But isn't the whole point of going to the gym to get a body that doesn't require Spanx?

And, like Jezebel also points out, fellow gym-goers wearing Spanx could be a tad anxiety-inducing, considering we already get the sense that everyone at the gym is skinnier and fitter than us.

Then again, while we're busy feeling fatter and slower than the girl on treadmill next to us, we may as well slip into some pants that deliver an instant confidence boost. Or something.

Quick Poll

Would you wear Spanx to the gym?

YES! Why not?

NO! Are you kidding?

i have a pair of spanx and have only worn them once because i felt like i had permanent organ damage by the end of the night.

there's no way i would buy spanx for gym wear. it's too expensive and, after all the sweating that a woman does vaginally during a workout, i can't imagine that washing the stupid thing every day would be fun.

It's one thing if your going out to an event, spanks make you look even better. But to the gym? Give me a break, a bit too self obsessed. Your there to work out those lumps seeing them helps motivate you to get in shape.

Ha! This is exactly why I always sign up at the crappiest cheapest local gym I can find (as long as it's near my house).

No flirting. No chitchatting. Everyone keeps their minds and eyes to themselves so they can get out of there faster. No need for fancy clothes.

I wear sweats and tees to the gym. No way inhell I'd wear Spanx. But then again I'm 40 something and happily married.

I think my daughters and nieces would probably wear Spanx to work out. I can't be bothered.

So you 're saying if you weren't happily married, you'd be more likely to wear it. thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind.

LOL, what exactly is your point?

I agree, I'd never pay that much money for an outfit I'm just going to sweat in. It's $5 shorts and crappy t-shirts for me too!

Where's the health aspect? Did I miss something? ...and where does all the stuff go? Up around their organs? Doesn't sound to healthy to me.. The fact that a person is working at it puts them way ahead of most of the poplulation...thumbs down on a company trying to make money by telling ANYONE they can't be seen as they are.Jeesch.

Having all of my 'self' tucked in and flubber-proofed helps me feel better able to move around without the fear of smacking some poor innocent bystander with one of my rolls. Have I said too much?

Awesome. Also, me too!

I would imagine that it would be awfully hard to breath in one of those control tops. Surely looking better in the gym is not worth sabotaging your own work-out?

Spanks for the gym? Why suck every thing in? My jelly rolls & muffin top remind me why I go to the gym in the 1st place.
