The Carnival Inspiration: A Huffington Post Travel Cruise Ship Guide

Carnival Inspiration is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the Carnival Inspiration.

Destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico

The Carnival Inspiration sails from Tampa, Fla., to the Caribbean and also makes a trip from Los Angeles to Mexico. The ship sails through the Panama Canal several times a year.

Cruise Through The Canal

The Carnival Inspiration is a Fantasy-class cruise ship. This is a mid-sized ship compared with newer ships in the Carnival fleet. However, at 103 feet wide, it barely fits through the Panama Canal.

Family-Friendly Entertainment

The Carnival Inspiration features a pool with water slides and an array of children's activities. In addition, the ship has clubs for young cruisers: Camp Carnival for little children, Circle C for 12- to 15-year-olds and C02 for teens. Adults can retreat to Serenity, the adults-only lounge, or relax in the spa.

Accommodation Options

The Carnival Inspiration has more interior staterooms than newer ships. These rooms have drapes hanging to give the impression of windows. The oceanview cabins have windows, while the balcony suites have room outside to watch the world go by. Suites and grand suites are larger, with walk-in closets and extra-large balconies. All rooms have luxury linens, thick towels and robes.

Carnival Inspiration ticket prices vary depending on the destination, season and length of each cruise. A four-day trip to Baja, Mexico, from Los Angeles may cost as little as $229 per person for an interior cabin in January. A 14-day trip through the Panama Canal may cost as much as $949 per person for an interior cabin and $3,339 per person for a suite.

Sailing and Snorkeling in Mexico

A Carnival Inspiration passenger recommended the beach and snorkel party in Cozumel, Mexico. Sailboats takes passengers to a reef for a snorkeling excursion and then to a private island with trampolines, water slides and frozen cocktails.

Dining Experience

The Carnival Inspiration's dining rooms, Carnivale and Mardi Gras, serve three meals, with two seatings for dinner. The ship also serves dinner at the Lido Buffet, which becomes the Seaview Bistro for dinner. The ship also offers poolside dining, sushi and 24-hour room service.

Maiden Voyage

The Carnival Inspiration was launched in 1996. The ship was refurbished in 2007 to add and update amenities.
