Colby Rasmus might want to invest in a heavier jacket... he's just been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays.
According to ESPN, Rasmus was traded to the Blue Jays along with relief pitchers Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and P.J. Walters in exchange for pitchers Edwin Jackson, Mark Rzepczynski, Octavio Dotel, and outfielder Corey Patterson.
Fox Sports reported that the trade was made possible via another deal the Jays made Wednesday morning that sent Jason Fraser and Zach Stewart to the White Sox in exchange for Jackson and infielder Mark Teahen.
The Cardinals trading Rasmus seemed to be an eventuality as David Wilhelm of the Belleville News-Democrat writes, "[Cardinals manager Tony] La Russa told a St. Louis television station that Rasmus has often shunned instruction from Cardinals hitting instructors Mark McGwire and Mike Aldrete in favor of advice from his dad, Tony."
