The Royal Caribbean Allure Of The Seas: A Huffington Post Travel Cruise Ship Guide

The Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the Allure of the Seas.


The Allure of the Seas sails out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on eastern and western Caribbean itineraries year-round. Passengers can choose from five-, seven- or nine-night cruises. Depending our your cruise, you could visit the Bahamas, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Haiti, Jamaica or Mexico.

Mega Ship

This mega-ship can accommodate up to 6,360 passengers in 2,700 staterooms, and it has seven "neighborhoods" on its 16 decks. Each neighborhoods is characterized by its own set of unique activities and features, such as the Pool and Sports Zone neighborhood, which includes four pools, 10 whirlpools, courts, mini-golf and the like. This seagoing behemoth is designed to impress every class of guest, from the super-frequent cruiser to the wide-eyed first-timers. Elegance abounds all along its entire 1,187-foot length.

Special Features

The Allure of the Seas has something for everybody: A full-sized carousel, an adults-only solarium, the largest dedicated youth area at sea, cantilevered whirlpools, a zip line, the first amphitheater at sea, an outdoor amusement area known as the Boardwalk and a massive, tree-lined public space known as Central Park. It also has two FlowRider surfing simulators, two rock-climbing walls, a casino, fitness center, spa and an ice rink.


On a ship as massive as the Allure of the Seas, there are quite a few options to choose from when deciding on your accommodations, including 28 two-level, ultra-luxurious loft suites and 2,700 staterooms. Among the three dozen categories offered to passengers are outside and inside cabins. Some of the inside cabins overlook the ship's open-air neighborhoods, but all cabins include a TV, safe, mini refigerator, hair dryer, desk/vanity and bathroom.


Cruise prices can vary considerably, depending on destination, desired length of cruise, the time of year and the type of cabin. lists prices from five-day western Caribbean cruiseson the Allure of the Seas for $799, up through nine-day eastern Caribbean cruises for $2,749.


Try the Snorkel Safari if you take a western Caribbean cruise on the Allure of the Seas. Located in Labadee, Haiti, a private resort island leased by Royal Caribbean, Labadee offers a fun and educational experience underwater. Enjoy a barbecue lunch, complimentary rum punch and all the equipment and instruction you need to get an up-close and personal look at life under the waves.

Dining Experience

There are more than two dozen restaurants to choose from on board the Allure of the Seas, ranging from the three-level Adagio dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to the relaxed-style buffets at Windjammer and the Wipe Out Cafe, to the gourmet fare at 150 Central Park. Some restaurants require additional payment, such as Vintages (for Spanish-style tapas), Izumi (for Asian fare) and Samba Grille (Brazilian steakhouse). Also look for a pizzeria, 24-hour room service, a gourmet cupcake shop and gourmet hot dogs.

Maiden Voyage

Allure of the Seas first set sail on Dec. 1, 2010. The first itinerary was a four-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Haiti and back. Allure of the Seas is the sister ship of Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. Both were ordered and built exclusively for Royal Caribbean.
