Jessica Simpson: 'Shoes Are My Best Friends' (VIDEO)

While everyone's abuzz about Jessica Simpson's wedding dress (which the celeb has claimed will "out-do" Kate Middleton's famous gown), Simpson would rather talk about her first love: shoes.

"Shoes are my best friends, so it's a good thing we have a great relationship," the pop star-turned-entrepreneur told "Extra" this week.

"I'd rather have a great pair of high heels than a hug."

Simpson explains that it was her love of shoes that got her started on her eponymous line, which is reported to have earned $750 million in sales last year and is on track for revenues of $1 billion in 2011.

With numbers like that, Simpson is getting the last laugh at those who once mocked her for her ditzy television antics. In fact, she has "The Newlyweds" to thank for her success: "The reason I started the collection was that everyone was wanting to buy what I was wearing on my reality show that I did," Simpson told "Extra." "I felt like, 'Why am I giving all these other designers props when I could be doing it myself?'"

Not that Jessica only favors her own brand. The bride-to-be recently received a swanky birthday gift from fiance Eric Johnson in the form of a giant Hermes Birkin bag.

We wonder if he'll follow up with matching Hermes high heels as a wedding gift.

Wrong! Still as ditzy as ever. Proof... This article itself. Shoes are my best friends. They'd have to be. Only an inanimate, inorganic object could possibly stand listening to her. She put her name on something that a group of marketers, designers and manufacturers built and sold for her. You don't need to be that smart to make an easy decision like that. Plus, there is no end to other ditzy chicks in the world that would line up to buy it.

You seem a tiny bit deluded if you got "jealous" from what I wrote. I could also add naive if you think that she wasn't just along for the ride. Both in the music industry and in her product line the marketers are the real driving force behind her.
