Linda Ronstadt Memoir

07/28/11 04:00 PM ET   AP

NEW YORK -- Linda Ronstadt broke barriers for women as one of the top-selling artists of her generation, and she's going to detail how she did it in a new memoir for Simon & Schuster.

The book publisher announced Thursday that it had acquired her autobiography, titled "Heart Like a Wheel," after her Grammy-winning, multiplatinum album.

In a statement, Simon & Schuster said: "Few singers have been as wide-ranging or distinctive in their artistry."

Ronstadt sold tens of millions of records starting in the 1970s with pop hits like "You're No Good" and "When Will I Be Loved." But she also segued into country, pop standards and mariachi music, among other genres.

She also had high-profile romances with California Gov. Jerry Brown and George Lucas.

The book is due in 2013.

Well I think I covered all , but here is the really weird, it's called Still Life; Just to be fair,as one or the other/ knows But I was only 2, people sometimes expect to much, But upon a few occasions he appeared I don't know who he was but he looked kind and never said anything I knew he wanted something and yes a close resemblinst after the first hair cut, But to muster up my humanity compared to what has been shown is where I grow # 39 is a base 1of 3 which the other 2 parts won't be released, but if anyone stumbles across them, I will give this warning: overindulgence. Poison Pens; Tinman : Now I stand before the mole hills

I think for someone to be from any generation thats not an air sucker is a complement in it's self.

I think Ms. Ronstadt is a true trailblazer. Though she didn't write her own music, she made contributions to rock n roll that women in music are still benefiting from. I, personally, can't wait to read this. I just hope she's super honest, or the book won't have much of an impact. I the album "Heart Like A Wheel" is in the Top 150 albums of all time from Rolling Stone.

Having gone through the synopsis above did good justice in high lighting salient point of her life including her private life that seem to absolutely normal very unlike others smeared with sex and drugs.

I find her talent not only limited to singing but in other spheres on artistry mentioned in her autobiography book under the name and style " Heart like a Wheel" to be available in the market. Her achievement makes her climb the ladder high leaving enough to climb higher in her life time. After her
Grammy .-winning, multi-platinum album experts in artistic world , including analysts and critics all are of high opinion for her future career and hope she will go further up in the music world

To high light her popularity and achievement within this short time in comparision withe her generation generation I quote from the article."Linda Ronstadt broke barriers for women as one of the top-selling artists of her generation,"

It is now we in the public to get the book "heart like a Wheel" and get to know about this talented artist more in detail..

I also read that she would be writing it herself, which is not too surprising, considering how damn smart this woman is! She just turned 65, so it will either be a very long tome, or maybe just volume one--either way, I can not wait to read it! Love this incredible woman!

Isn't that also the name of Shirley Muldowney's autobiography?

Linda Ronstadt's "Don't Cry Now" is one of the handful of albums from our distant past that we've never stopped listening to.

Every time I hear "Colorado" , I get the same lump in my throat I got when I walked into the Musay d' Orsay in Paris and there was a gigantic Monet on one wall, and around the corner, a Renoir. Pieces I knew I liked, but had only seen in books. My God, they were gorgeous.

The feeling when I first saw a live ballet and symphony performance of "Sugar Plum Fairies" from Tchaikowsky's The Nutcracker.

The sun setting in "The Window" on the trail at Big Bend National Park in Texas.

My first glimpse of a male Anna's Hummingbird.

This song is an absolute masterpiece, as is that whole album.

Thanks, Linda for some great work!

Have to agree about Linda she is so coooooooolllllll. But the part about the nutcracker I'm still rolling!
09:45 AM on 08/10/2011
Hey, tink, when you stop rolling you should check it out. Preferably, performed by an international/nationally acclaimed touring ballet troupe, but if not that, a good regional group like ours in S. LA. With a live symphony, of COURSE! Totally thrilling, and you don't even have to be a classical afficionado to get goose bumps. It's an "everyman", "everyhuman" kind of instant love thing.

Why not post an updated picture Linda instead of one taken years and years ago

If you like Linda, check the Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me archives. She was on the show within the last oh, 18 months. She was so real and funny! It's on npr.org under Programs.

That was one of her best interviews. They barely had time to play the game because the host kept asking her questions and she kept popping out funny answers. This book is something I've wanted her to do for years. It's going to be good. Everytime she gives an interview she drops some little nugget of rock history like the origin of "fleeting house". I can hardly wait! Can you tell I'm fairly freaky about Linda Ronstadt?
