A poignant new commercial for a Thai life insurance company has become an Internet sensation.

Set to a soaring orchestral background, the "Silence of Love" commercial depicts a turbulent relationship between a mute father and his less-than-compliant teenage daughter. After the girl is rushed to the hospital before what appears to be her birthday celebration, her disabled father makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his daughter's life.

Try to hold back the tears and watch the subtitled clip below (Hit the “cc” button if the subtitles don't show up.)

A commercial, that's more of a public service announcement, that packs more of a wollop than most Hollywood films.

Do they have an Academy Awards category for this? If not, they are overlooking a powerful piece.

This spot says so many things about so many issues, insurance being the least.
Peer pressure, family conflicts, respect of family, caste, all these elements speak loudly in this powerful production.

"They have 3 minute long ads over there?!! Lol at the raging Thai TV viewers! "
The length of an ad is money driven in the U.S. Producers here have to squeeze a clients message into a 15, 30, or 60 second shoe and hope to deliver all the elements the client wants to say. Clearly the message is more important than the time and expense in Thailand. Well done and an excellent ad.
