Beirut, 'Santa Fe'

We've entered familiar Beirut territory on "Santa Fe," and no more so than for frontman Zach Condon, who hails from the city. The track doesn't break any new ground for the band, but gets even more stripped down and poppy than they usually are -- an approach we were first exposed when they dropped "East Harlem" back in June, and which they've taken even further here.

We won't have to wait long to find out whether this is indicative of a new direction the band is taking -- according to Prefix, Beirut moved up the digital release of their album, The Rip Tide, to Aug. 2. With the feel-good beats here, the album should be a nice close out to the last real month of summer.
