'Sex And The City' Prequel Rumors Fly; Who Would You Cast? (PHOTOS)

HBO's 'Sex and the City' went off the air in 2004 but Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda haven't gone anywhere.

The show was immediately aired in syndication, where fans watched their favorite moments over and over again--So what if we've seen the episode where they go to Staten Island a thousand times?

Then, finally, in 2008, we got the pretty decent 'Sex and the City' movie. But we wanted more.

2010 gave birth to the patched-together sequel, SATC 2. This time the girls (who have been bummed out by the recession) wanted to go somewhere 'rich.' So, they're off to Abu Dhabi and everyone, save Samantha--who was battling menopause--was married.

It was clear: Six years after their series ended, 'Sex and the City' had finally jumped the shark.

And then, she had a thought...

The show's creator, Candace Bushnell, recently penned two novels, 'The Carrie Diaries' and 'Summer and the City,' which predate the series. It's the same fabulous SATC crew, only as fresh-faced youths.

So far, SATC 3 is a pipe dream. Despite all casting speculation, reps have denied any involvement.

Below are some hot, young celebs who we think would be able to fill their very expensive shoes.

Who says a girl can't dream?

it's success will be much the same as beverly hills 90210..charlie's angels etc...a new generation of kids will have pleasure of enjoying...but it's just not possible to do a remake that surpasses the origional.

Please, pretty please, cast Selena Gomez as Charlotte...Please.

I think MOST younger (teens and college age and about) want to see a 'beginning' type of movie. Those who have a problem with it are older geezers! Relax and friggin accept that they DID HAVE The Younger years!!! THEY DIDNT...JUST...APPEAR INTO LIFE IN THEIR THIRTIES(30S)!!! Well, at least MOST of the younger masses will likely want this. PLUS: HOW CAN U NOT LOVE Selena Gomez and Emma Roberts!!!

I love this idea. Casting will be critical. Yikes!
Will need to resemble the cast, but more importanly, will need to energetically channel their archtypes!
Dig in!

One of the reasons this isn't going to work is the irrevocable change to the fifth character, not pictured here: New York City.
After the attacks, New York changed, and so did we. The girls stayed the same.

It's not that SATC has jumped the shark, so much as we have outgrown the carefree sentimentality of the life in NYC. America is in decline. The economy is in tatters. SATC represents an era, one that is as over as Happy Days(irony intended).

Oh Geeze, they're really beating that dead horse, aren't they?! And no… that was not a knock against Sarah Jessica Parker!

I'm with you, I didn't see one person I thought could fill their shoes in that list. Maybe someone new, but that was not a good list.

RY friggin kidding me!!! THEY ARE FRIGGIN TV..TV STARS!!! NOT NOBEL/PULITZER OR EVEN OSCAR AWARD WINNERS!!! U all overrate petty and simply actresses. Get over urselves! ANY of the younger stars mentioned are likely even better actresses. "I didnt see one person I thought could fill their shoes"?!! What a load of tinsel-thinking. These younger actresses are likely BETTER actresses. Geez: grow up older little minds. The movie will likely be better acted and have a better story.

I believe this is a perfect time to say "enough is enough!"

NO NO NO - The SATC movies were bad enough, a prequel would be worse. Leave it alone!!
