Simply incredible.

The African-American community faces horrific crime and skyrocketing HIV (and STI) rates and this rapper spends $55,000,000 on a g-d jet? I'm simply blown away. Souljaboy could have spent that money on a community center (more like five), or established a foundation in Hollywood that other rappers could have joined to fund clinics for those without healthcare, child wellness courses for unwed mothers.

I am never shocked at the insatiable, self-centered, self-absorbed ardor of the Hollywood elite.

When the poor rise up in the streets, I wonder where this "Soulja" will make his last stand... One of his four liquor bars?

Textbook example of another self -worshipping pseudo celebrity. Very, very sad...

Diddy doesn't even own a private jet.

Definitely the next MC Hammer.

Isn't Hammer's unfinished mansion still setting vacant overlooking Compton CA?

Young people deserve to be able to make mistakes, as this will prove to be.

I would love to know all of the facts of this story.

Buying the plane itself is not so bad. When a musician is touring he will often charter a plane. It is all business expense and it could work out costing the same this way as all of the charters they took.

He didn't pay 55 Million cash. He is probably leasing it through an aircraft leasing company or it is at least financed. The interest is deductible as well. In 10 years, it could still be worth 25 million so the cost over that time is not necessarily so bad.

Here is what really bothers me about the story. 20 Million for upgrades????????

12 leather seats = 2 Million (6 Ferrari 599's at 325k each)
Travertine and Custom wood floors = 8 Million (Mansion in most cities with half a dozen or more much nicer bathrooms.)
Flatscreen TV s

Seriously, how do you put 20 Million into 350 square feet of space.

Good point. He probably dolled it out with the usual confab of t.v.'s, DVD players, XBOX and a large icebox, not to mention pilot, staff and employee fees he will have to pay.

Pilot staff and employee fees are operating costs. They would not be considered part of the purchase price.

Re the rest of your comment, you are taking it a bit far the other way. I was not suggesting an ice box. The question is should a bathroom remodel cost 5 Million?

Should a custom 4 small custom bars cost 1 million each.

Should the finest seats cost 500k each?

Installing 4 bars and a stone floor in a private jet is lavish beyond comprehension.

Didn't anyone tell this kid that buying personal aircraft is a horrible investment? He's going to get in it for the first time and before he even leaves the ground, it's value is going to drop 10 miilion.

Or he may rent it out to other rich people like a lot of others do, that's very common.

Personally, I plan on getting my schadenfreude on when I read the next story about how his billion-dollar mansion is being foreclosed on and he's doing Lohan-esque web commercials for a two-bit auction site to pay his cable bill.
