Somali-American model Iman impressed the urgency for donors to contribute to the ongoing famine in Somalia on the BBC Tuesday.
About 3,500 people flee Somalia each day because of the humanitarian crisis that Iman described as "heartbreaking." Aid organizations have been underwhelmed by the pledges from wealthy nations to combat the crisis.
Oxfam said the situation demands about $1 billion in aid, and the money pledged so far falls well short.
Iman implored potential contributors to give to the cause, and recommended supporting Save The Children because of the organization's two decades of work in the region.
"The situation is very urgent," Iman told the BBC. "It's getting worse and worse."
