Herman Cain Wins Conservative Straw Poll In Denver Ahead Of 2012

Herman Cain Straw Poll

DENVER -- Conservatives meeting in Denver have handed Georgia businessman Herman Cain a wide victory in a straw poll of Republican presidential candidates.

Cain spoke to the Western Conservative Summit moments before the poll Sunday and drew the crowd to its feet with his life story and biting criticisms of President Barack Obama.

With 508 people voting, 48 percent chose Cain as their favored presidential candidate. Second place, with 13 percent, went to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has not formally announced his presidential campaign but addressed about 1,000 people at the conference Friday.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who addressed the group Friday, got 10 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, won Colorado's Republican presidential caucuses in 2008, also got 10 percent. Nine other Republicans split the rest of the votes.

CNN reports:

Event organizer John Andrews said the Denver Straw poll is the "first test of 2012 presidential preferences among grassroots activists in Colorado and the Western states."

Cain reacted to coming out on top in the straw poll on Twitter by writing, "Honored to learn that I won the Western Conservative Summit's straw poll with 48% of the vote. Thank you so much!"

If this guy became the President I really do believe that all the KKK and Aryan Nation members heads will explode. Racist from the Right and Left will emerge and finally...it would never happen...

He better enjoy it and muster it for all it's worth because when the votes actually count next year he wn't even get 0000.1 of the vote.

I thought his good news would be a reopening of Godfather Pizza locations throughout the Springs. He has no hope of being a serious contender if his opponents simply play back his own inane utterances.

Clearly, the 408 folks in this poll are taking advantage of the Medical Marijuana in Colorado. When Rick Santorum is ahead of Mitt Romney, you know there is a lot of weed getting passed around.

Cain is not going to win. Romney will be the GOP choice and Obama will defeat him handily, everyone knows this. Everything else is just window dressing.

It would be a kick to see Cain get to run against Obama, if for no other reason other than giving McConnell a heart attack

Gee I wonder what Sarah Palin's last running mate her man McCain thinks of Herman Cain? She was a maverick, McCain was a maverick, Mark Cuba-n owns the Dallas Mavericks and is the "Rich Jerk" on the Rich Jerk Website and the first testimonial was from Wanted Terrorist Seif Al-Adel aka Mark Joyner of Simpleology, not to be confused with Palinology, and "Joyner" was also known as the "godfather" of internet marketing, not to be confused with "Godfather" Pizza Herman Cain. No Psy-ops project here.
