TheLocal.se:

Police have raided the apartment of a woman in Gävle, Sweden, after being tipped off that she was housing a fugitive: A wild hedgehog she was caring for in violation of the country's hunting laws.

Um...this is blown waaay out of proportion...
Firstly, it was not a "raid". (Bad translation). It was a "visit".
They did not "search" her home. She showed them the hedgehog and admitted to everything.

Yes, it is illegal to house a wild animal as a pet. But it is only in the most extreme of cases where you are fined or run the risk of jail.

She was informed about the law. And got a "warning"

The End. :)

For the comic perspective of a Swede on bureaucratic overzeal, read Comment # 22 that follows the original story. Priceless.

Aren't you being a bit prickly? Maybe they wouldn't have seized it if she hadn't been so pokey about getting out of the house.

Harboring a hedgehog fugitive, I wonder how many snails he took out. Come to think of it, does Sweden even have snails.
