X Games 17 Women's Moto Enduro X: Riders Struggle Through New Event (VIDEO)

Well, this didn't quite go as planned.

During the Moto Enduro X race, a brand new event at X Games 17, according to the LA Times, more than half the riders fell off their bikes, with many doing so multiple times.

The reason they fell off, and mind you this is just a guess, is likely because motorcycles generally aren't meant to travel over large tree logs and jagged rocks.

One racer, Tarah Geiger, completely wiped out within the first 100 feet of the race still finished second.

Maria Forsberg ultimately won the race and non-coincidentally was one of the only riders to stay on her bike the entire time.

After Saturday, what was there to watch? Big air, street park and moto events were all over. The SK8 event was interesting, but...why get eliminate the biggest events by Friday evening? Skateboard Vert was Saturday night, but....I don't get the programming decisions. "Demonstration" sport to close out the games? I guess more kids would be able to watch on a Thursday/Friday evening than Sunday?

Actually, off road motorcycles ARE designed to traverse such obstacles. It is VERY difficult to do, especially at speed. If it were easy, it wouldn't be exciting.
