Alec Baldwin To Host 'Saturday Night Live' Season Premiere

Alec Baldwin

Coming off the heels of Lorne Michaels' announcement that all current "Saturday Night Live" cast members will return for the 37th season, the "SNL" executive producer has also announced Alec Baldwin as the host of the upcoming season premiere, according to Bill Carter of The New York Times. The second episode of the season will be hosted by "Bridesmaids" scene-stealer (and Emmy nominee for "Mike and Molly") Melissa McCarthy.

The show will mark Baldwin's 16th time hosting the NBC sketch comedy program, a record. He last appeared on "SNL" hosting the finale of season 35, in May 2010.

Michaels' announcement comes at the same time of swirling rumors regarding Baldwin's longevity at the hit NBC comedy "30 Rock," which Baldwin claims he will leave after the next season when his contract runs out. NBC executives claim to be unsure of Baldwin's official plans, and seem hopeful that Baldwin will reconsider and stay at the show. Either way, both parties seem to want "30 Rock" to continue with or without Baldwin's involvement.

Baldwin expressed similar sentiment in April on a blog for The Huffington Post, where he said that his "days on network TV may be numbered" but hopes that "30 Rock" goes on for "five more seasons."

If he does leave "30 Rock," Baldwin's future could still remain full. He is currently filming the Hollywood adaptation of the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages," and is signed onto Woody Allen's next movie. Outside of show business, Baldwin also teased a run for New York City mayor earlier this year.

Baldwin started recently tweeting at @AlecBaldwin.

Baldwin is having at tough time finding his way in the world. He was not brought along with those of us from the old wavers of the havers who would know how to navigate through this time of his life - he's never gonna get his dues from his costars, or his fams or anyone blanched - going for a Master's .. great.. but if he doesnt get it from the right school and have the right people bring him along in govt, he'll get eaten alive .. so he needs to get his dues done by the people who hoop him to his gazers.
Next - his attachment to SNL is lovely and barring him from his gazers to appoint themselves to him. He needs to go a little gicky and get his dues from the people who matter, not the popular voters. His newfound love of newspapers wont haze him to Bok or any local paper unless he goes to that type of establishment to hoard up to them. Basically he wastes his time with almost all his moves to get himself going - especially doing anything with medical harpers here in Florida.

I just paid $22,87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38,76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $71,32 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, MetaCent. com

SNL as of late has seem to be depending more and more on its friends to host. WHich can be cool but it also makes it less special. One particular show with Tina Fey hosting, felt like she just didn't want to be there. I wish SNL would use some of its institutional status and take some chances. Why COULDN'T cookie monster host a whole show? Its a late night show, so see if Louis CK is free, or Bo Burnham. If SNL loves old friends so much, call Buck Henry. Its not like there are only 8 shows left, SNL isn't going anywhere so why not? Because those possible hosts are way more interesting than seeing Justin Timberlake host again.

Is Mr Baldwin sick? That picture of him doesn't make him look very good. He looks ill. I hope he's okay. Maybe it was just bad lighting...

I'd really, really, really like to see John Lithgow do it again. His appearances, especially with Jon "The Actor" Lovitz, were epic.

I really hope Melissa McCarthy's appearance doesn't turn into 90-minute long fat joke.
