German boaters got a surprise this week with the debut of "Die Badende" or "The Bather," a giant, styrofoam-and-steel sculpture showing a woman's head and knees if she were soaking in a bathtub.

Created by artist Oliver Voss, the 13-foot-high, 98-foot-long sculpture will be on display in Hamburg's Binnenalster Lake for the next 10 days.

Take a look at "Die Badende" below:

Wow, I'd love to vist that up close and personal especially in the water. It's too bad though.

This is true. I was just wondering if they did it for something or not!

I think it's brilliant!!!! That is just exactly what the Hamburgers would do and it is awesome. Germans love their modern art and this is a perfect example of it. The Alster is the center around which this whole town revolves. It has to bring a smile to the face of every person who drives, rides, walks, rows past it. If only it had been there when I road around that lake on my bike every day back in my student days.
