Jacob Resnick's Call On Jose Reyes Home Run: 11-Year-Old Announcer Makes Fantastic Call (VIDEO)

Last night during the Mets game against the Florida Marlins, Jacob Resnick, the 11-year-old winner of SNY's Kidcaster Contest, got the opportunity to call an at-bat by his favorite player, Jose Reyes.

Suffice to say, the kid didn't disappoint.

Resnick--who took over for the bottom half of the third inning for Mets announcers Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez--sounded like a seasoned pro in booth from start to finish.

When Reyes took the first pitch he saw from Marlins left-hander Brad Hand over the left field fence, you could hear the elation in Resnick's voice. But rather than jumping up in down in the booth like, well, an 11-year old, Resnick proceeded to provide context and analysis of the home run, noting that it was hit as a result of a hanging breaking ball and was also Reyes' first home run since July 23rd.

The call was so impressive that when Cohen took back control, all he could say was what everyone else was thinking: "That was fantastic, Jacob."

I have no words except, I am absolutley impressed.

This kids parents should be congratulated for doing a great job raising this boy. What he did (sadly) is extremely difficult for a vast majority of adults. His timing is impecable. Amazing what a good education can do for you.

Wow! Thanks kid for making a great call and bringing back great memories. I still remember listening to The Game of the Day with Al Helfer and Dizzy Dean. Those were the days!

Wow, that was fun to hear. Way not to lose focus and keep the play call going and then hit all the facts, too. Nice job. I'm sure I would have slipped up and cursed, too!

I don't follow baseball but I'm glad I checked out this video. Young Jacob had everything in this call. It could not have been scripted any better than that! There has got to be a movie deal just around the corner that is tailor made for him.

Excellent performance young man! Wow!

That was excellent! Just the right balance of child-like (of course!) excitement and professionalism in his voice.

A couple of people posted here about getting teary-eyed while watching that. I did, too. In what can be a razor-sharp, bitter world, it's really nice to take a second and witness someone in a moment of innocence experiencing pure joy.

I thought he did a Great Job for being so young! Let's hope his parents complete the circle by helping him accomplish the goals necessary to achieve that job.

At the end of this video Gary Cohen says there is now "an SNY KidCaster tradition." That's because last year, the one previous time they did this, the kid (I think it was a girl) said her favorite player was David Wright, and Wright stepped up and hit a home run for her, just like Reyes did here. Amazing, amazing, amazing!
