UPDATE: The man who died in the boat crash was identified as 30-year-old Minh Troung.

A Vietnamese man in his 20s died on Wednesday afternoon after being trapped underwater after a boating accident on the San Francisco Bay.

At about 12:30pm, a father and his adult son were catapulted from their 19-foot whaler when it collided with a 46-foot motorboat in the San Francisco bay, according to NBC Bay Area. The father was able to climb onto the hull of the boat and was quickly rescued, but the son was trapped beneath. The Coast Guard rescued the son and administered CPR, but he died from his injuries shortly after at SF General.

According to the Chronicle, no one from the larger boat was injured, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
