Happy Birthday, President Obama and HuffPost Black Voices

President Obama burned one more candle last night at a gala fundraiser ringing in his fiftieth birthday, while the editors of HuffPost Black Voices burned the midnight oil launching a new portal focused on African-American news and culture. And while Obama's star-studded event included performances by Chicago musician Herbie Hancock and singer Jennifer Hudson, Black Voices' launch turned out to be an equally star-studded affair, featuring blog posts from model/actress Heidi Klum and celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson.

"I feel real good about 5-0," Obama told NPR recently. Both he and Black Voices are undoubtedly hoping to celebrate another 50 more.
