Karl Lagerfeld For Macy's Unveiled (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 08/04/2011 8:13 am   Updated: 10/04/2011 5:12 am

Macy's unveiled its much-hyped, latest designer collaboration with none other than Karl Lagerfeld on Wednesday night. As previously reported by Women's Wear Daily, the duds are slated to hit 235 stores come August 31, priced from $50 to $170.

Dubbed the "Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse" collection, the line includes flowing and perfectly-tailored frocks, tweed and leather, fingerless gloves and printed tank tops and tees.

This isn't the kaiser's first partnership with a fast fashion purveyor -- he was the first big name to link up with H&M, and the immense success of the "masstige" experiment inspired a slew of imitators (Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Lanvin and Jimmy Choo are among those who have since collaborated with H&M) as well as Lagerfeld's international celebrity (after it all, he told The New Yorker, "I can no longer walk in the street.")

Check out pics from the store's press preview on Wednesday night and a handful of images from the look book. And head over to Fashionista.com to see the rest.

Macy's has always been good to me, I purchase many of my things there, and have always been happy, but I keep coming across stories of people who have had really bad experiences with the company. There are some really funny vents about it here.

What is up with the expressions on the models faces. Some look like a deer caught in the headlights, others look like they are puzzled by something and a couple look like they are angry.

As for his line it is his daily uniform and he added a few skirts to change things up a little. Not impressed.

My first thought was oh he's designing stuff for himself. Even down to the fingerless leather driving gloves.

I expected tasteful & chic I in fact, would bow before before Karl Lagerfeld; but I couldn't breathe & began chocking after the first few. OMG! he doesn't have to choke us. I think sometimes high brow elite designers just have toooo many yes yes men. I also think that's just cruel, there's something Freudian there somewhere, like a mothers spanking. Choking women, what ails you Karl? lol!

If any other person designed this it would be considered boring. Its sad how retailers and the public have no sense of context anymore about what is fashion and what is not, everyone is addicted to labels and style is dead.

Don't you think people are shopping based more upon their budget than who actually designs the clothes?
