Woods last played at the Players Championship back in May, but was forced to withdraw after nine holes due pain in his left knee and Achilles.
During the third-longest break of his career, Woods missed two majors; the U.S. Open and the British Open.
To the delight of golf fans and the chagrin of his competitors, Woods announced that he will not miss the last major of the year, having formally entered the PGA Championship which will be played next week.
Woods will return to Firestone without caddie Steve Williams, who he fired late last month.

Tiger is five strokes back and has a lot of traffic between him and the front of the line. That being said, he's in good shape heading into the weekend.

Just a par...
After tapping in for par on No. 17, it's clear from Tiger's body language that he's begun to expect better. After fighting himself through the first few holes, he's finding his stroke and his killer instinct this afternoon.

Back in Purple
31 feet and four inches is the distance Tiger's last putt just traveled to the cup. It dropped as he rose his club to salute the crowd. Coming just after a (too) powerful approach from the rough, Tiger seems to be finding his swagger. He's at -2 after 16 holes.
