What college graduating students are not understanding, is there are hundreds of thousands of degreed people with years of experience out of work. They will take lower wages, now that unemployment benefits will not be extended any longer.

As an employer, I would much rather have a person with experience vs someone with no experirence.

The colleges are going to start to go bankrupt soon, that is why you have seen fees escalate recently. There is low demand for jobs and there is a huge glut of degreed graduates which will be accumulating for the next five years. The student loan program is reaching $850,000,000,000 and defaults on payments from students is eminent and the Government has no money to bail it out.

Colleges are reaping huge profits from the excessive liberal student loan program, when the program goes bankrupt....the colleges will follow.

Making more while experiencing the joy of repaying upwards of hundreds of thousands- Fair deal? Sorry, not enough CEO jobs out there. Too bad education has been turned into a profitable business.

It is not just the money you will earn. Add to it the people you meet from different places and the things you learn.

That's if you can find work which is far from guaranteed. There are many people with degrees out there who only have more debt and no better job or way to pay off the loan.

If you study who works in their fields with a degree, of course they earn more, but not everyone is guranteed a college degree job, that's the BIG catch.
12:41 AM on 08/06/2011
Well yeah, but many college graduates have crushing debt so in the big picture they may NOT better off than high school graduates that earn less.

This was a wasted study. You think!!! Higher education you should get paid more but first you have to get a job. Most companies arent hiring people with a degree because they have to paid them more money. There use to be a time that a college degree was a ticket for a job and receiving better pay, but now u can have a degree and people with them are outside with a coin cup and signs saying they work for food!!! Again this is a wasted study!

Because so many have degrees now, your nothing special anymore.

10:14 PM on 08/05/2011
You should have finished high school.
12:24 AM on 08/07/2011
collage??? really? smh.

Statistics like these are utterly meaningless. There maybe plenty of majors out their that may make less money then a high school grad, of course when include all those majors like engineering, medicine, law, etc. your numbers will invariably rise.

good luck trying to find a job without a degree, just about any job. in case you haven't noticed, there is a job recession. hs degree's will get you nowhere unless you know someone, and that only gets you so far.
no one is talking me out of finishing my degree.

So going to school for four years and majoring in Comparative Literature by racking up 100K in debt only to then work at Starbucks is preferable?
