As a life long Democrat, I don't think the mints should have been removed. All kinds of politics are part of education, including candy, especially on a college campus. The company apparently makes bi-partisan novelties of all sorts.

It's capitalism and it's also a poll of sorts.

They could sell Obama Accomplish-Mints. Tom Waits sings about 'Chocolate Jesus', "it's sort of an Immaculate Confection." I guess some UT people might not like that either. Too bad.

In Maine, caught between two tourism loyalties (including Kennebunkport) stores stock both:

I Root For 2 Teams, the Red Sox, and Whoever Beats the Yankees and the reverse I Root for Two Teams... The Yankees, and Whoever Beats The Red Sox

There's so much hateful political stuff out there on both sides, that this foo-fah seems pretty mild, and rather silly.

Good to see Republican corporate tax breaks being misused in such a jokingly unfunny way.

The significant thing about the story is that the Pinkoes over there had had no problem with anti-Bush mints, only ones about Obama.

They wonder why we view them with ridicule, disdain and contempt. They are shallow hypocrites.

"With a book or something of that nature, then fine, but that (the mints) is sort of a discretionary product they have," Armstrong said. "It wasn't viewpoint neutral. Very specifically insulting to the president."
I agree.  Stores should only sell products and goods that are specifically complimenting to the president.  After all, he is the president and above criticism.

Criticizing politicians is un-American.  The constitution specifically states that politicians are above criticism.

I also hope that no one dares to criticize Mr. Rep. Armstrong for upholding the dignity of political office.  Criticism is not particularly healthy and too often negative.  Negativity should be illegal!

You're kidding, right? With the far left around, sometimes sarcasm doesn't work because it's impossible to distinguish from what they're really saying.

I generally support the president, but if business wishes to sell the novelty mints, their customers should have the opportunity to purchase them.

This is the USA, the Mecca of capitolism, there is money to be made in mocking our leaders. Some interprising person always has and always will.

I can't decide if I'm more dissapointed in Obama or the mints being pulled.
