Sundays In Los Angeles: Best Summer Parties

No More Lazy Sundays: LA's Best Summer Sunday Parties

Traditionally, Sunday is a 24-hour opportunity to rest, get one's self organized for the upcoming work week and blah, blah, blah. That's not how we do in LA. Here, Sunday is prime time for fun in the sun, day drinking, dancing and other assorted carousing. These are some of LA's best Sunday shindigs at which to do so.Drai's Pool Party at the W Hollywood: It doesn't get more LA, (sprinkled with a touch of Vegas), than the Sunday pool party at Hollywood's W Hotel. In conjunction with Drai's nightclub, the slick venue hosts an uber-popular, (the line to get in has been seen snaking up Hollywood Boulevard), pool party packed with so many hotties that it looks like a scene out of "Entourage." (The HBO show has actually filmed here). Get your Vinnie Chase on by reserving a cabana and a bottle of Dom.Sundays, 12pm-6pm, cover charge appliesW Hotel Hollywood, 6250 Hollywood Boulevard, at Argyle Avenue, (323-962-1111 or whollywoodhotel.com/wetweekends)

The Do Over: If dancing is your Sunday beat, check the Do Over, a local legend fiesta with a backyard BBQ vibe. Co-founded by producer Aloe Blacc, the Do Over pulls in top tier DJs, (past guests on the deck have included Peanut Butter Wolf, Flying Lotus and 8th Wonder), and an attractive crowd of devoted revelers who return weekly for what has become LA's most dynamic, danceable and dependably cool weekend get down.Sundays, 2pm-10pm, free with RSVPThe Cabana Club, 1439 Ivar Avenue, at De Longpre Avenue, (blog.thedoover.net) Viva Sundays: It ain't your grandma's bingo party, (unless your grandma is Donna Summer), at The Standard Hollywood's weekly Viva Sundays. The Brazilian themed blowout features a caipirinha bar (free from 6pm-7pm), a DJ remixing disco hits and bingo with door prizes including a room at The Standard. Might be convenient, to win this one after five hours of poolside revelry.Sundays 6pm-2am, no coverThe Standard Hollywood, 8300 Sunset Boulevard, at North Sweetzer Avenue, (323-650-9090 or vivasundays.com)Endless Summer Sundays: Get thyself to the westisde for Endless Summer Sundays at the Hotel Shangri-La, where you can frolic in the pool or post up on a lounge chair and cure your lingering hangover with a Summer Snow (basil infused vodka poured over blood orange sorbet) and a basket of fries.Sundays, 12pm-7pm, $25 for non-hotel guestsHotel Shangri-La, 1301 Ocean Avenue, at Arizona Avenue, Santa Monica ( 310-394-2791 or shangrila-hotel.com)

WET Pool Party at the W Hotel Westwood: LA's other W Hotel (the first one, actually) is a little more low-key. Here, in-house chef Dakota Weiss (who just might be making an appearance on the next season of "Top Chef") pumps out cure-all BBQ (think haute couture dogs and burgers), which can be delivered right to you lounge chair.Sundays, 12pm-5pmW Hotel Westwood, 930 Hilgard Avenue, at Le Conte Avenue, (310-208-8765 or W Hollywood Hotel)
