'My Strange Addiction': Woman Eats Husband

"I'm eating my husband", Casie casually comments as she dips her fingers back into the urn for another taste. Casie lost her husband and has been carrying his ashes with her everywhere she goes. Open day Casie opened his urn, accidentally dirtying her hands with his ashes. Casie felt it would be rude and dismissive to merely wipe her hands clean, so she licked the ashes off her fingers. This simple yet revolting move gave her pleasure. Casie continued licking the ashes off her fingers but this time intentionally. Five times a day or more Casie opens the urn and soils her fingers with her husband's remains and consumes it. She is on a steady diet of her husband's ashes and has lost 47 pounds.

Believe it or not there is a tribe (can't recall if it's in South America or Africa) that don't bury their dead; They drink them (crushing their bones).

Why would blacks on the Huffington Post decide to promote this story? Are they trying to be regulated to the lowest common denominator as fast as they can? I sure hope not. This just seems so callous.

On a side note you can run all the articles about inequality and discrimination you want but stuff like this makes me feel a lot more empathy. This is just so cavalier and unintentional, it actually does suck how black people are treated and I didn't even need to leave the Huffington Post to see it.

I must be colored blind because I did not equate this story with the color of her skin nor did I notice the tab [clicked on in Front Page Tab]. I agree that this story does not belong in this topic but if you have noticed as of late, Huff has been real cheeky in their tab topics (media when away then came back. But even in Media Tab, you are really in Culture Tab so I would not necessarily with you on the whole inequality & discrimination because I didn't see any race in this story until you brought it up.

I have a whole list of gripes with Huff so this doesn't even rise above "curious".

My Strange addiction has shown a disturbing number of black women who are eating strange things like dryer sheets, couch cushions, drywall, and laundry detergent. The show is highlighting that something really weird is occurring in our country. (Not just with AA women either). The woman who bathed in bleach, the one using skin lightening cream 30 times a day and the one who was eating rocks was truly scary. Issues of mental illness need to be addressed. And you can't address an issue unless it's brought to light.

Who knew there were this many hoarders living in America surrounded by filth and trash on purpose!

I saw that show Seereene1 and I was amazed. I'm like you I had no idea that addictions ran to such extremes, and it really blew my mind when I saw how many black people are affected. Now the hoarders was not that surprising, I've known a few of those in my day. But if you look at it, addiction is not about anything but having some control over your life, because of some inability to deal with the realities that a person had decided not to face. We need not shake our fingers at things we don't understand.

I'm certainly not shaking my finger at anyone...I've got problems just like everybody else. But this show is certainly bringing to light some behaviors that seem to be more common than anyone thought. I think "addiction" may be the wrong word. Behavioral disorder may be more appropriate. The poor lady above was in so much pain I felt for her.....
