A "Boomer" is a ballistic missile submarine. A "baby boomer" is what was born between 1946 and 1964 to many members of the greatest generation. In 1965 the baby boomers were sent to fight LBJ's war in Vietnam and life as we know it was changed forever.

I want to see the World tab back on the top five. Enough with the BS Huffington. I came here for the news. Not the fluff. I work at a library. I can read all the magazines I want on my breaks--People, Star, US, even Time or Newsweek. (I usually go for Discovery, Scientific American or Yoga Journal).

Come on HuffPost--all this is becoming way to Mary Kaye for me.

I dont know. This has the potential for aarp groupies to invade the logic of mature americans even futher because, well, they think they know best and I am not anywhere near retirement and I never will be at 49. Somehow, though, hanging with the new aol kids on hp has not been much fun in the past few months. There must be a solution to those of us who enjoy these kinds of sites but want a more thought provoking crowd and I guess each of us could do more, really. I don't know.

The boomers were thrown under the bus by both parties. They all assume we want to "sacrifice" for the young etc.
Why should we have to start over and it is too stressful to change jobs at our age.
If they want later retirement they will have to come up with better jobs.
We also do not want extra money in our paychecks or should I say a few dollars and have no ss.
I would rather the money goes to ss-I gaurantee it will not be spent on 3rd world crape at walmart.

I was talking to a 59 year old female boomer yesterday. She supported herself by owning her own business for the last 30 years but business has been very bad lately (because demand has been down). She has no health insurance and has no social security to look forward to.

A 73 year old man proposed to her recently and told her she would be entitled to his social security if she married him and became his widow. She likes the idea of receiving his social security but the main problem is--She doesn't want to make out with him. He's kind of gross.

I feel sorry for her because she is really stuck between a rock and a hard place.

IF she owned a business of 30 years she has been paying into SS...its called the S.E. tax. So.. why wouldn't she be entitled to hers?

sounds good as long as it doesn't turn into aarp mag. I don't need discounts on vacations, or anything else for that matter, since i have no money. health care might be good, though. and how about Box 500 mind your own business and go back to watching idiotic movies based on cartoon superheroes?

Another vehicle for the boomers to practice their extreme self absorption and self adulation.

How about we call it the section the Boomer Masturbatorium?

So beautiful. For a woman, 50 is the new 20, it really is.

Inspirational and empowered. Namaste.

$100's of millions will help one's skin.

Ask a 20 year old if they think 50 is the new 20. What you tell yourselves is amazing.

Too bad $100's of millions, will not help your attitude. You can h8 on older people all you want, but you too will be older someday.
