Lauren Bush & David Lauren To Marry In September, Bride Will Become Lauren Bush Lauren

We're inching closer to another royal wedding -- fashion (and American) royalty, that is!

Page Six reports that FEED designer and former president George H.'s granddaughter Lauren Bush and David Lauren, son of Ralph, recently feted their engagement with an all-white party in Water Mill, New York.

The gossip column adds that the nuptials will be held in September at the Lauren family ranch in Telluride, and, most importantly: "the bride will take the name 'Lauren Bush Lauren.'" Period. No hyphen.

Well, that sounds pretty definitive to us -- back in April, Lauren Bush joked about her what-to-call-myself conundrum with Harper's Bazaar:

"Out of all the people I could've met and fallen in love with," says a laughing Bush, now 26, of her husband-to-be, "it's just ironic that David would end up with someone named Lauren." [....] "I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. That's not final, but I think it's nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way."

And it can't hurt when your husband's dad is responsible for creating your dress. Lauren also told the glossy that future father-in-law Ralph would be putting together her gown, the second bride he'll clothe this year.

He -- along with some help from Vera Wang -- also created a silk tulle and duchess satin dress, with a nine-foot, tiered train for his daughter Dylan's nuptials. She posed in the gown for the August issue of Vogue, telling the glossy, "It's really beautiful. I know that every bit of his energy and heart went into making sure that I liked it."

Don't know Lauren, wish her well, though I detest her family's politics (didn't daddy broker all the deals with China, after the Savings and Loans debacle?) Anyhow, she seems nice enough, and hope she's happy with David. I just wish journalists would stop touting AMERICAN ROYALTY. The whole POINT of America, is there is NO ROYALTY (other than that paid for services rendered).

Since David's Dad's real last name is "Lifschitz", maybe Lauren should call herself by that last name, instead of the made-up, plastic name of "Lauren"

Months ago, I wrote Lauren suggesting an unhyphenated 'Bush Lauren' or 'LeBush' (I actually preferred the latter because of its ostentatiousness LOL). Looks like I'll be taking credit for this decision. :-)

The bride-to-be is a model, designer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, and (I hope) future policymaker. We became friends at university, but divergent professional paths ultimately reduced our relationship to email exchanges and the rare rendezvous. This is unfortunate because she is one of the most caring, courteous, and congenial individuals that I've ever known. Lauren is true American royalty ... and it has little/nothing to do with her baronial Bush bloodline being bolstered by beauty.

I hold these truths to be self-evident: You can earn 'chic status' if your famous future father-in-law designs your wedding dress, but you'll never be vogue until you've appeared on a cover of Vogue. Ballin'!
