'The Odd Life Of Timothy Green' Trailer: Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton Star (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/09/11 07:06 PM ET Updated: 10/09/11 06:12 AM ET

It's a heartbreaking reality that some loving couples cannot conceive a child, no matter how much medical assistance they receive. In the altered reality of Disney films, however, there's an option when science proves incapable: a wish box and some magic.

In "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton star as the couple who, when told by their doctor that a baby of their own blood was not possible, go the supernatural route. A few drinks into that sad night, they put together a wish list of qualities for the child they could not have, put them in a box and bury it. A storm and unexplained phenomena later, a child just, poof, appears like that.

Here's the catch: the child is about seven years old, with absolutely no memory.

"He doesn't have any emotional memories," Garner told USA Today. "He's completely naïve to the way the world works ... someone who's honest to a fault is called honest to a fault for a reason."

The film hits in August, 2012; check out the trailer below.

Jennifer Garner looks like Madeleine Stowe in that pic.

Anyway, the story sounds interesting. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD to watch it.

Is this child birth reminder year?

Ok, I'm going to comment on the movie, not every thing else in the world to discuss on this thread. I hope it's a great family film. It looks like a tearjerker big time. A few tears never hurt anybody. I just hope it's good, because Disney doesn't ALWAYS come out with good movies. Most are good, some are not. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Brings back a memory of 1958.............."Tom Thumb" Couple wishing for a child, knowing they cannot have one of their own, and are surprised to see a young man at their door. Family movie.

If you combine this plot with Juno, Jennifer Garner has some bad luck in the fertility pool.

I make this to be a three or maybe four hankie movie.

At the very least! I definitely want to see this one. I like both of the adult actors...not familiar with the boy, but if the trailer is any indication, he's going to be good.

Its great all the things they looked for in a child to make it perfect they could have gone to an adoption agency and found.

Isn't that true for all couples? Why is everyone making so many babies?

Especially in the famine countries.....it is so sad to see the starving children. Even sadder for the mothers who have children that died on the way to find food and water.

Oh please. This looks like a terrible movie and premise to me, but suggesting they "just adopt" is not only an utterly ignorant comment, but it's a completely moot point since this isn't even, you know, real.

Yeah, at least no one is taking the premise of this movie and running with it to make a statement. Gee whiz.

I don't like Garner but that looks cute.

She's better in movies. She was painful to watch in the Broadway version of "Cyrano De Bergerac" with Kevin Kline. The stage is not for her.
