Tiger Woods Texts Steve Williams, Congratulates Caddie Despite Comments

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (Associated Press) -- Tiger Woods is taking the high road in his nasty split with caddie Steve Williams.

Woods says Wednesday he was happy to see Adam Scott win a World Golf Championship last week. He said he even sent a text of congratulations to his ex-caddie, who now works for the Australian.

He says he was surprised that Williams took a shot at him on national TV when the tournament was over, and that they have exchanged texts since then. Woods says that's between him and his former caddie, and he doesn't want to speculate why Williams was so motivated to win.

As for his own hopes in the PGA Championship, Woods says it's always about winning. He also revealed, though, that his improved health is enough to make this year successful.

In case you missed it, check the controversial comments that Woods was referring to below. Williams admitted on Tuesday that his remarks were "a bit over the top."

Just like Tiger's all other xwhores, Williams is just mad at a player when he should really be angry at the game.

What ever happened between tiger his wife is there business, just like ex President Clinton, what goes on behind closed doors is there business, as long as Clinton ran the country like he did. However the caddies remarks were cadie and childish, and if I were the aussie that hired him i would let him go. Loose lips sink ships. The aussie canlook forward to the same when the aussie gets tired of him, just my opinion!!!!!!

Stevie shows no class. I would have said, I'm the caddie interview the winner. I happy he won.

Do people get upset when top athletes and teams try new coaches and new managers? Winning is hard, and you have to change things up to keep winning when you get in a cold slump.

Williams is carrying the bag, not playing golf.

Understandably it must be very difficult, very painful to lose a job paying one million per year, if it were me, I'd be devastated but, that's the nature of the job. It's not tenured. Tiger has been losing, he has to try to fix the problem and change new things. It is not wrong of Tiger to try a new caddie.

I am not Tigers creator, nor can I judge him we all and I mean all make mistakes, Tiger made a business move like, employers do on a daily basis there for you the employee suck it up and look for another job. Tiger did the right thing let the caddied say what he wants and the end of the day he will still be steve the caddie. and Tiger will be money in the bank mr. woods ha ha ha!

Player Haters. Tiger acts differently because he is different, and it takes that kind of player arrogance to make it to the top in a public event like golf or any other sport. Look at the past foibles of the baseball steroid users, Kobe's fall and LeBron's choice. Humble people don't make those choices at the top of humble people's games, which is why we are where we are, and they are at the top of their games. I don't see you player hating on the arrogant Wall Street crowd whose arrogant decisions took down the economy......

Personally I think Tiger is a class act. I never really jumped on the bash Tiger bandwagon. Yeah it was pretty bad what he did to his Wife and his family, but that was all his business.

I agree. Professionally he has always been a class act. What he did in his personal life is another story. If everyone's personal relationships were exposed to the public there would be very few people who would be able to talk about tiger.

I'm glad somebody is acting mature here because it looks pretty silly for men their age to be acting like children. It's hard to believe that Steve could so easily reduce himself to the level he is on now just because he's angry. Adults are supposed to be able to handle anger more maturely than what he has displayed and he has embarrassed his family and friends I'm sure.

I'm glad Tiger is not reducing himself to that level as well. Thanks Tiger!

Still hating the man, I see. I said in my first post to this thread that I was sure that some would find fault in Tiger simply because it's Tiger. Sadly enough, I was right.

Sadly enough, there are those like you who still support the bum!
For the record...I have never liked him from the first time I saw him at the Memorial in his early days. He has no appreciation for the gallery and avoids any contact with them. His arrogance won him his place in today's public eye.

I think he lost the mystique of his legacy, but maybe that was for the best. It ended up that he was just human like the rest of us, and that is OK. I hope he gets back on his game and is able to provide a compelling comeback story.

Perhaps. But he can NEVER regain the role model title so many youths need today!
That is one title he has lost forever.

Williams has forgone the chance to be a stand up guy- now he's just another irrelevant opportunist trying to cash in his lottery ticket. The Tiger has enough money to just walk away from this, and it looks like he'll do just that.

give him a break...he was hurt as anybody would have been...but at least Tiger took the high-road...Willams did apologize the next day...he was just caught up in the moment...Congratulations to both of them...Williams for his win and Tiger for his humility...

He didn't apologize, he said he may have been a bit over the top, and he didn't mean harm. An apology sounds differently.

a lot of good all those millions are when you're alone...this guy will have to buy relationships for the rest of his life and considering from what a lot of people say how cheap he is...good luck. I would rather be labor with a grip of love around me than a king sitting on a dead mountain...just sayin

Maybe not everybody is as judgmental as you and others around here. It's as possible that Tiger is an arrogant (insert choice word here) as it is that he's a very kind and approachable guy once you're allowed to get to know him. We all don't know.

Personally, I'm interested in his golf only. His marriage was between him and his wife. They seem to treat the whole mess like adults, why can't people here?
