A four-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shooting yesterday afternoon.
The shooting took place in a residential area of Perris near the 1500 block of Wilson Avenue. He was playing in his front yard when the side of his head was grazed by a bullet. The boy was taken to the hospital, treated for the minor injury, and released within a matter of hours, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's department says that "two subjects in the street in front of the residence began shooting at each other after an alleged gang dispute."
A conflicting report from My Valley News, claims the sheriff's radio broadcast stated that "an unidentified man on a red bicycle randomly fired at least five rounds." The radio broadcast also said that "his target was not immediately known."
No arrests have yet been announced.
