'Strike Back' First Episode Sneak Peek: First Six Minutes Of New Cinemax Show (VIDEO)

Strike Back Sneak Peek Cinemax

First Posted: 08/12/11 05:21 PM ET Updated: 10/12/11 06:12 AM ET

When a resourceful international terrorist group plots an attack, a maverick former U.S. Special Forces operative ("Animal Kingdom‘s" Sullivan Stapleton) joins forces with a stealth British military unit to stop them in the ten-episode action series "Strike Back," airing on Cinemax--a network more known for its adult programing than its original prime-time dramas.

But it looks like Cinemax is ready to join the prime-time game with its new fast-paced action drama "Strike Back." Think of it as a British take on "24"--but with more sex and violence.

The series follows Section 20, an elite military black ops unit within the British government that focuses on high-risk, top-priority targets--including terrorists. When one of their own is captured and held hostage, the group enlists the help of Damien Scott (Stapleton), a charismatic former Delta Force operative who is familiar with the terrorists. However, his cocky style is often at odds with the more formal team, especially the by-the-book Sgt. Michael Stonebridge ("Crusoe's" Philip Winchester). Team leader Col. Eleanor Grant ("Holby City's" Amanda Mealing) is a smart, tough military leader who is skilled with a gun and diplomacy, but she also knows when to break a rule or two.

In this sneak peek, Section 20 is on the hunt for Stapleton’s Damien Scott, and we learn that this elite military force doesn't always play by the books. Now that's a shocker.

"Strike Back" premiers Friday, August 12 at 10 p.m. EST on Cinemax.

An amazing number of "news" features on this show. HP seems to now be acting like an advertising agency.

This is actually Season 2. Season 1 was a 6 episode mini season/mini series in Britain. Kinda slow, but pretty good if you like the first episodes of this new season.

Watched this show, the first 2 episodes last night.Loved it right up until the time the missile was caught. That was more than a little bit of a stretch. But like the characters and hope they don't resort to that sort of ridiculousness again.

Someone ought to consult a few Iraq war vets on a person's ability to outrun an exploding automobile.

I'm not sure I'd want my show to be compared to 24, given how utterly incompetent CTU was.

I watched it, it has potential. I hope it does well, we need a good action show.

This is really the second season, the first season only involved the Brit guy. It was OK but not great. HBO is again making a mistake. This is why the network is going down hill fast. SHO, AMC, USA, and TBS have better shows. Last great show on HBO was Deadwood.

This is for Cinemax not HBO, its its an HBO owned company but its still not HBO. HBOs lineup is sill far better than all those channels you listed and Game of Thrones is a really great show.

I dunno about that. Californication is better than pretty much anything HBO has now.

HBO has definately gone downhill.I have all the premium channels and honestly other than a few shows, they are all useless and cost way too much for what they offer.

It's definately no 'Emanuelle in Space' that shit's gold!

Meh... I can see why HBO passed this off onto Cinemax.

Pass. After the heroic Seal team 6 raid on the Bin Laden compound, the real thing makes this lightweight, Rambo/24 ripoff look real cheesy. Also, when I saw the hot woman as part of the commando team I knew we were in BS territory. Definitely won't make me subscribe to Cinemax.
