Creepiest Beauty Salon Ad Ever (PICTURE)

First Posted: 08/13/11 01:51 PM ET Updated: 10/13/11 06:12 AM ET

In some communities, the beauty salon is a budding center of local chit-chat and gossip where ladies feel pampered. We could imagine the stylists would get attached to their customers, but we never thought we'd see a salon advertise for new ones because their old ones had, well, kicked the bucket.

Redditer iamthekris spotted this hilariously off advertisement for Trudy's Looking Glass Salon and we just had to share it. Now, we're sure Trudy's is a very lovely place just in need of a new marketing strategy, but just the thought of filling a dead person's favorite salon chair gives us the creeps.

Trudy, we dig your old-timey vibe (and your "Dear Abby" headshot) but next time try not to be so morbid.

I hope you didn't charge your beloved senior customers for doing their hair and makeup for the final time.

Gosh, Trudy, what do you DO to your clients? Must be some pretty tough beauty treatments.

ROFL!! Okay now that I'm finished doing that...as a former salon consultant and a business administration major with a minor in marketing...this is not the way to get people in the door. Or at least not people interested in hair cuts. I get that they are trying to attract an older client, but I don't know very many older women who want to cater to a business that panders to them. I'm sure Trudy meant well, but this will not have the affect she thinks.

Perhaps just leaving in the bit about the stylists with years of experience in roller sets and blow drying is good. Even better she could've included some sort of buddy discount like come in for a perm and bring a friend your friend gets 50% off their service. This would've not come across as pandering and rather capitalizing on the fact that persons in the age demographic they are trying to cater to can appreciate good discount.

Trudy?! That's not Trudy! That's Merlene from down there at the Beauty Bubble. You know she works there now after she lost her job at the Curl Up and Dye. She was fired for sniffin' the nail polish....while it was still on the customers toes!! But you didn't hear that from me.

How is a "Dear Abby headshot" different from any other headshot?
Is there an "Ann Landers headshot", too?

Seriously Fox-lite-Po? You delete this instantly?
So far, in a VERY brief span, I've compiled a ever growing document of my comments that have been instantly struck from Comcast-Poo.
Is there anyone else left of center having this issue as the prevalence of right wing ideologues, unfortunately too often offering nothing more than ignorant, petty, insults and GOP/Fox talking points, explodes on here?

Just wondering. I shall enter this every time one of the 60% or so of my posts are instantly removed.
Till I get an answer.

How is it worse than the article itself, which also makes light of the absurdity?!?!

As long as they don't run that ad every 4 or 5 months and customers don't start coming back from their salon appointments, then it's just a dumb bidness decision.
If not...... YOIKS!

If they want to get new customers, they shoudl try a new slogan:
"You Only Dye Once".
