The AIDAdiva: A Huffington Post Travel Cruise Ship Guide

The AIDAdiva is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the AIDAdiva.

Destination

The AIDAdiva caters to a German clientele, and mainly travels around Europe. Stops include Cyprus, Greece and Hamburg, Germany. The popular Eastern Mediterranean cruise makes stops in Crete, Athens and Turkey.

Luxury Cruise Ship

The AIDAdiva, one of the newer ships in the AIDA fleet, has 13 decks and is able to hold 2,500 passengers. The luxury liner has a children's club to accommodate families with children, and the Body & Soul Spa to accommodate spa-goers, which is the biggest spa at sea. There is a golf simulator, plus squash and volleyball courts.

Special Features

The AIDAdiva has the state-of-the-art Body & Soul Spa, mini golf and fitness classes. The ship also boasts a nightclub, casino and theater on board. Eleven bars and lounges are on the ship, as well as a casino.

Accommodations

The cabins on the AIDAdiva can best be described as luxurious, and are decorated with warm tones and expensive and trendy-looking furnishings. Most have their own balconies to allow passengers to enjoy a view of the sea from the privacy of their own space.

Cost

An Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the AIDAdiva is listed at $1,249. This is for 10 nights in an interior cabin, with stops in Turkey, Cyprus, Crete and Greece. Extra expenses come in the form of drinks at the bar and spa treatments. Cruise packages and deals can be found on the official AIDA website.

A recommended tour is the Mediterranean cruise. There are stops in Athens, Crete and Greece. This AIDAdiva cruise is offered mainly in the winter months,

Dining Experience

There are seven restaurants on the AIDAdiva. Coffee is served beginning at 6 a.m., and starting with a breakfast buffet, guests have their choice of everything from a sushi bar, pizzeria and steakhouse.

Maiden Voyage

The maiden voyage of the AIDAdiva took place on April 30, 2007. The ship was welcomed to Germany's Elbe River by a fireboat, which is a tradition. After a dazzling light show in the harbor in Hamburg, the luxury ship sailed to Palma de Mallorca.

In The News

The AIDAdiva made the news when it was completed and delivered to the German port of Emden. No other major news about the ship was found.
